Will Georgia Host a Night Game in Sanford in 2023?

Notes and thoughts on Georgia’s TV Schedule for 2023

by Tony Waller

  • CBS has announced two doubleheader weekends:

o Oct 14th – Noon/3:30pm

o Nov 4th – 3:30pm/8pm

  • Hey, noon kickoff in Jordan-Hare. We’ll all be home in time to see South Carolina vs Tennessee for the ESPN night game.

  • Kentucky will probably be 5-0 coming into Athens. CBS will not pick our game over the deliciousness of Nick Saban creating so much defensive havoc that Jimbo Fisher unplugs Bobby Petrino’s headset, forcing Petrino to come down to the sideline to “settle this like grown ass men.”

  • It’s a bummer we have Vandy in the first doubleheader window, because it feels like they love to put UGA in that noon slot on CBS. If you are going to Nashville, you have plenty of time to saddle up your horse and ride into the citaaayyy.

  • It is possible CBS puts the Missouri game in the 3:30 slot for the doubleheader (LSU is at Alabama that week, so you already know what the 8pm game will be) so the will have UGA, Bama, and LSU locked up that week. I think they put the Texas A&M at Mississippi game on CBS, which will leave ESPN to spite pick UGA for the 3:30 slot.

  • Mississippi is a context pick. I’m guessing CBS picks Alabama at Kentucky (assuming Kentucky is in the 7-2ish territory here). If Mississippi is better than that, flip those and UGA is on CBS that week.

  • I’ll refer you to the SEC football schedule for the Tennessee game pick.

  • Man, I’m tired of noon Georgia Tech games. I tried to find a way to hope the game would be anytime but noon. It won’t be. Yes, that is cut and pasted from last year. It is in the ACC inventory this year, so you are fighting against UK at Louisville, plus whatever is happening with UNC at NC State. Combine that with CBS definitely taking the Iron Bowl, and with Ohio State playing at Michigan on Big Noon Saturday, ESPN is going to grab UGA at noon.
